CSU community bike rides start in May

Parking and Transportation Services is again hosting lunch-time bike rides for campus community members throughout the summer. These rides help participants learn bicycling safety and become confident in navigating bike trails and roads, while also providing an opportunity to meet others on campus interested in biking. The program is particularly geared toward helping women overcome barriers, but all are welcome.

An informational session will kick off the summer rides from noon- 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, at the Laurel Village Pavilion.

Swing by anytime in the hour for a snack and to:

  • Meet the ride leaders
  • Get first dibs to RSVP for the monthly rides (space is limited)
  • Pick up bike safety information, bike trail maps, and bike lights and other giveaways
  • Bring your bike for a quick check at The Spoke (which will be open for the hour), also in The Pavilion

Lunchtime rides will be held from noon -1 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month, June – October. These are short rides, with all skill levels welcome.

Each ride features a specific topic, and participants will also receive a boxed lunch, hosted by members of the Campus Bicycle Advisory Committee, including Parking and Transportation Services, and the CSU Police Department.

Ride topics are as follows:

  • May 17: Informational session and meet and greet
  • June 14: Remington low-stress bike network including navigating the underpass and round-about, visiting the CSU Trial Gardens, learning about the campus bike counters.
  • July 12: Tour the new on-campus stadium (pending confirmation)
  • August 9: Get familiar with the Prospect and Center underpass and visit the Gardens at Spring Creek
  • September 13: Tour the new underpass at Shields and Elizabeth, and new biking infrastructure on campus
