The Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence (FIIE) Now Accepting Applications

Applications are now being accepted for the 2022-2023 cohort of the Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence! The goal of the Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence is to create a learning environment for faculty to engage in topics of diversity and inclusion in pedagogy, curriculum, and university communities.  Objectives:

  • Awareness – Foster awareness by creating opportunities for dialogue and open engagement and promote respectful and collaborative spaces for learning. 
  • Knowledge – Develop transformational curriculum by infusing diversity, equity and inclusion within course content and/or varied teaching practices. 
  • Skills – Nurture campus climate and culture to form an inclusive community. 

Timeline: Participants are asked to commit for spring and fall 2022 with final presentations in early 2023. A decision on whether the workshops will be in person or virtual will be made based on public health recommendations closer to the start date.

2/15/2022 Workshop 1: Setting Context – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at CSU 1 – 4 p.m.
3/1/2022 Workshop 2: Who You Are Teaching – Identity of Your Students 1 – 4 p.m.
3/8/2022 Workshop 3: Who You Are – Identity of the Instructor 1 – 4 p.m.
3/22/2022 Workshop 4: How You Are Teaching – Pedagogy & Praxis 1 – 4 p.m.
4/5/2022 Workshop 5: How You Are Teaching – Managing Conflict in the Classroom 1 – 4 p.m.
4/19/2022 Workshop 6: What You Are Teaching – Exploring Curriculum 1 – 4 p.m.

Completion requirements:

Individuals who complete the class sessions, develop inclusive curriculum, and present on implementation will be deemed a Fellow of the Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence.

(Fellow: in academia a fellow is a member of a group of learned people who work together as peers in the pursuit of mutual knowledge or practice.)
