January 16: Moving Men From Resistance to Accountability: A framework toward constructive responses when being called on harmful behaviors

Feedback is a gift, an opportunity to see things from outside of our own vantage point and grow beyond our current capacities.

However, more often than not, when we receive critical feedback that identifies some of our own actions as harmful to others, we become defensive; we resist. This session, offered by members of the Feminist Fight Club for Men at CSU, explores common ways resistance impedes our ability to show up as effective supporters and allies for those who occupy marginalized identities. Utilizing the lens of Sexism and Gender-Based Oppression, examples will be provided to identify a range of responses rooted in resistance, while offering a model for more effectively operationalizing feedback to be and do better.
