March 23: Dr. Janina Fariñas

Dr. Janina Fariñas’ will present her research in the fields of Latinx and Liberation Psychology, Mental Health Equity, and Community Engaged Scholarship in Colorado State University’s Ethnic Studies Department.

For the past year-and-a-half, Dr. Janina Fariñas’ worked in these areas with the intention of catalyzing systemic change in our community. The MiDiA (Mil Dias de Amor/One Thousand Days of Love) platform is one of current areas of development. She also founded and direct La Cocina, a community initiative that provides free-of-charge mental health services to the Latinx community of Larimer County. In December of last year she had the honor of accepting the Fort Collins Human Relations Commission Award (Adult Category) for founding and sustaining La Cocina.
