November 10: Martha Nussbaum

The CSU Ethics Colloquium will host two talks by Professor Martha Nussbaum: “Aging, Stigma, and Disgust and Anger”, “Powerlessness, and the Politics of Blame.”

An internationally renowned philosopher, Professor Nussbaum has published over 20 books and many articles, focusing much of her work on issues with broad implications for individuals and society, from the role of emotions in in ethical behavior to how a nation’s economic prosperity affects individuals’ capacities. She has considered the experiences of less powerful groups, from religious minorities to women in traditional societies, to examine the role of vulnerability in cultivating an ethical, compassionate society.
