The 2017 Fort Collins Book Fest is a locally-organized event designed to celebrate local libraries, books, and the literary arts throughout Fort Collins and northern Colorado.

It’s free and open to the public. Attendees can attend panel discussions, writing workshops, author readings, book signings, classes and other exciting sessions throughout the day and engage with a variety of fantastic writers.

Quick Highlights:

• “Girl In A Band” at 3:30 at Block One Events. Hear from Kim Gordon herself on topics ranging from family and relationships to music and art and, of course, the frequently-asked question: what does it feel like to be a girl in a band.
• “Music, Gender, and Politics in Islamic Indonesia” at 7:00PM at Old Firehouse Books. Anne Rasmussen is an ethnomusicologist who shares her perspective on the intersection of cultural production, gender, tradition, and modernity as it plays out on the stage of Islamic music in Indonesia. Her recent book is titled Women, the Recited Qur’an and Islamic Music of Indonesia. Her presentation will include music.
