Visible Voices is an educational program that is styled as a speakers bureau (panel) made up of CSU students, staff, faculty, and community members who volunteer to share about their experiences and coming out stories. To apply to be a volunteer, go to prideresourcecenter.colostate.edu by September 27^th. All volunteers need to attend our training on Sunday, October 6^th.

For International Pronouns Day, we’ll celebrate the diversity of pronouns as  we discuss the importance of asking for and respecting folks’ pronouns and how to be an ally to the trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming community.

DIVERSITY SYMPOSIUM: PRONOUNS & WHY THEY MATTER

Are pronouns really that complicated? Not when you understand what they mean and why they are important! This session will present information on pronouns – what they are, what they mean, and the importance of honoring people’s pronouns for the health and well-being our CSU community members. Attendees will learn how and where they can share pronouns, as well as things to keep in mind for creating inclusive workplaces and classrooms.

DIVERSITY SYMPOSIUM: EXPLORING LGBTQ+ MENTAL HEALTH DATA FROM THE NATIONAL COLLEGE HEALTH ASSESSMENT

The CSU-specific data from the National College Health Assessment speaks for itself: mental health concerns are increasing for all students and especially for those students who identify as LGBTQ. Using 2017 data, we’ll explore some of the particular vulnerabilities challenging our LGBTQ students.

PRIDE OUTSIDE HIKE IN ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK WITH CAMPUS REC

Pride Outside trips are opportunities for LGBTQ+ identifying students, faculty, and staff to get outside and explore nature. SAFE ZONE TRAINING – OPEN TO STUDENTS

The Pride Resource Center’s Safe Zone Training is a 3-hour training program with the objectives of reducing homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism at CSU, thereby making CSU a safer environment for all members of our community across sexual orientations, romantic orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and intersections of identities, and creating a network committed to ongoing education and advocacy in order to support LGBTQ communities at CSU. This Safe Zone is open to students. Pre-registration is mandatory to attend: sign up at prideresourcecenter.colostate.edu.

LGBTQ+ HISTORY MONTH KEYNOTE: JANAYA KHAN

janaya khan is the co-founder of Black Lives Matter Canada and has become a leading voice in the global crusade demanding social transformation, justice, and equality. Known as future within the BLM movement, khan is a Black, queer, gender-nonconforming activist, staunch Afrofuturist, boxer, and social-justice educator. Khan’s dedication and bold approach to social justice work has created opportunities to contribute to academic and frontline community dialogue engaging audiences on the global impacts of the Black Lives Matter movement. We are excited to janaya join us as our keynote speaker for LGBTQ+ History Month. Q&A will follow.
