About the Faculty Institute
The Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence (FIIE) has existed at CSU for the last 11 years. The goal of FIIE is to create a learning environment for faculty to engage in topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion in and through their pedagogy. The purpose of the Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence is to transform classrooms by imbedding equity in pedagogical practices.
Participants in the program engage in a semester-long class dedicated to exploring culturally responsive pedagogy, learning the histories and inequities deeply imbedded in Higher Education structures, learning to identify and counter deficit frames, and are challenged to center Inclusive Excellence in their curriculum, pedagogy, and classroom culture. Participants complete a project to demonstrate learning from the program and after their project is completed and presented to others, are deemed fellows of the program, the award ceremony is where this happens.
